Maybe it is because of the leaflets, some times called flyers, that members of the public have sat up and taken notice of one of the items the Amenities Committee are active in.
Three years ago the Treasurer brought to our attention the Water Tower was running out of funds. Yes, Robin Stewart arranged two fundraising functions. At the first function less than seventy people were present, at the second function there were less than forty people present. Both functions raising approximately £400 each, about the cost of the insurance. The second one only reaching that figure because of the donation of a very generous raffle prize. I think this is a real indication of the practical support for the Water Tower. I would like Pat Bingham to come to an Amenities Committee meeting and tell us what more we could do to have the sewage upgrading carried out. Pat Bingham be assured you are offending others and as a past member of the Amenities executive and a past member of the 1990 Water Tower sub-committee you should be pleased at being given the opportunity to give an opinion. I and others on the Committee feel like mice, people out there like a cat, ready to pounce if we make any move at all. My personal position about the Tower is that I am perfectly happy to see the Tower stay where it is, provided it can be financially sustained. There was a PUBLIC MEETING on 25/04/2006 (which was well publicised). There will be another PUBLIC MEETING on 29/08/2006 at 7pm in the Village Hall. I look forward to seeing more than six (other than members of the committee) interested members of the PUBLIC. John Fettes Chairman Garmouth & Kingston Amenities Association |
