Sunday 14th was the opening of the green and fortunately we got a good day, though sadly only one brave new face came along to swell the numbers. Mrs Jean Cadenhead was asked to throw the first jack and three rinks were used for a friendly game.
A special vote of thanks goes to Dave Cadenhead, Jim Bingham and Frank Low for their tireless work on the green, hedges and surrounding grass areas throughout the season. Sincere thanks to all those members who collected so diligently for the Inchberry Bottle Stall, our main fundraiser. Without those bold volunteers to collect we would be really low in funds. Jim and Dode left early for Inchberry and were joined later by Andrew Furr. Sales went well and the small amount of bottles left went on a bottle stall at the last Garmouth Car Boot sale. Thanks again to those who helped on both days. Between both events and generous donations from Mr & Mrs J Wills and Mr I Touch they raised £192. Once again the ladies have done us proud too serving tea/coffee and baking great cakes for the car boot sales and on the last two Sundays have also provided rolls with bacon/burgers/or sausage and tea/coffee to go. It has gone very well, though those serving now need pen and notebook to keep the orders in line. A special thank-you goes to Beatrice Low for "slaving over a hot stove." So far Hat nights have not been warm, though reasonably well attended let's hope the evenings get a bit warmer before too long. Hat nights, 50p a game, are on Mondays and Thursdays at 7- 8pm and include a 50p raffle.
