The Mosstodloch School team took part in the annual Moray Primary Schools Soccer Sevens Challenge Cup in Forres on 14th June.

The boys played really well together, and went through their group stages undefeated to reach the quarter finals where they met the schools league champions Greenwards.

The quarter final was an extremely close run game with Mosstodloch having the upper hand for most of it, but two late goals from Greenwards saw the match finish Mosstodloch 0 - 2 Greenwards.

After the game the team gave a cheer of thanks for their Manager Mike Murdoch, who put in a lot of time in coaching and organising their matches this year.

The boys should be proud of the football they played during the season, not just the quality of their play, but the good natured spirit in which they played it, which was exemplary.

The penultimate game of the season found Mosstodloch away to Dyke, where a good natured game entertained all those who were watching. Mosstodloch played really well, and came away the victors, but Dyke got a few well earned consolation goals, including a stunning free kick.

Dyke 3-9 Mosstodloch

Murdoch 3, Henderson 2, Watt 2, Alexander 1, Laurence 1, plus an excellent performance by emergency stand-in goalie Ebdy.

A round of applause should go to three of the Mosstodloch School football team who took part in Elgin City's 3 On 3 tournament Sunday 24th March.

In a tournament comprising 14 teams from all around Moray, Alisdair Ebdy, Andrew Murdoch & James Bremner went through the group stages as the only unbeaten team, and the only team not to concede a single goal, winning 5 matches and drawing one 0-0. They finished with the highest points score of the day, 17 out of a possible 18, but were unluckily eliminated in the knockout rounds that followed.

In an overly physical match, Mosstodloch were very unlucky not to finish with a better share of the points against West End.

Losing 2 goals early in the first half, they they played the better football, and had the best of the chances throughout the match. They drew even to 2-2 and again to 3-3, but finally the luck was with the away team.

Final score Mosstodloch 3-4 West End

Alexander 2, Murdoch 1

Everything clicked into place for Mosstodloch in their away game against East End, and they looked comfortable from defence through to attack, with some lovely skills & passing of the ball.

In stark contrast to the previous weeks match, this football was a joy to watch with both sides clearly enjoying themselves.

Thanks also to East End for inviting the kids to stay behind after the match for a friendly 5 a side.

Final score East End 0-6 Mosstodloch

Henderson 3, Alexander 1, Murdoch 1, Laurence 1
